SSK Business COVID-19 Response
How we worked with clients across every industry through the pandemic, and the workplace precautions we put in place for our own teams.
The COVID-19 pandemic pressured us all to make significant, and probably lasting, adjustments. It also marks a moment in history that united us to address issues and reflect on our purpose and what we value.
As an enterprise we have worked closely with our customers in every industry and every function, assisting them in changing the requirements of their teams, their clients and their suppliers. Simultaneously, as a company, we have done our best to keep our workers and our groups engaged and cared for in extraordinary times, placing their health and wellbeing at the top of our agenda.
Everybody experienced a reset. While some changes may be temporary, this reset is likely to alter what it means to be part of a society and a community. Some things will never go back: the new ordinary will be “never typical”.
Leaders should focus their consideration on the intersection of social effect and brand — now, in the coming year, and in the “never ordinary” future.
COVID-19 precautions at the workplace
- Inform employees about the signs and indications of COVID-19, and devote extra HR resource to addressing their questions about what to do if they become ill, or are exposed to somebody who is unwell.
- Any worker who feels ill should remain at home to prevent spreading germs in the workplace. Consider flexible sick-time guidelines or additional sick leave for employees who test positive.
- Limit physical contact for workers who are at high risk. Employees should wear face coverings over the nose and mouth.
- Handshakes should be avoided.
- Suspend or limit business travel.
- Support hygiene by keeping tissues, hand sanitiser, soap and disinfectant wipes readily accessible to all employees.
